How To Decide The Winners In Omaha Poker Hi-Lo
Omaha High/Low is one of the types of poker games which are played as a split pot games. If there are two players in the end, then this indicates that there will be two winners if they are at par in value.
The pot will be shared among those of the players qualifying for the highest hand and for the player playing with the lowest hand.
Omaha Hi Lo is played with an “8 or better” qualifier. In these games the low hand should be 8-7-6-5-4 or less. The high hand should be numbers more than 8 and low hands should be those which are less than 8. The comparison of the low poker hands in Omaha Hi-Lo is done just like in any other poker game like 7 Card Stud Hi Lo.
The High/Low split game is also called as Omaha Eight.
To have a successful hand you must have the cards low in ranking where no cards are more than 8 in value in your five card hand. Just like in Omaha poker high, to qualify for the low you have to be working with two pockets and 3 from the board.
As a general rule, the ace can considered to be a high and also as a low. While you are making a low hand, straights and flushes are ignored.
The lowest qualifying hand is A 2 3 4 5 which is known as the “wheel”. The pot will be divided between the players if the two players have made the same poker hands. This happens usually because many players will play different hands, which will consist of Ace-deuce.
